Event Basics

Q: When and where is the seminar taking place?

A: The Okinawa Masters Seminar will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Grand Ballroom, Crowne Plaza Dulles Airport Hotel (2200 Centreville Rd, Herndon, VA 20170).

Q: What time should I arrive?

A: On-site registration opens at 8:00 AM. Please arrive no later than 8:30 AM to line up for the Grand Entrance ceremony. The seminar officially begins at 9:00 AM.

Q: Where do I park?

A: Complimentary parking is available at the Crowne Plaza Dulles Airport Hotel.

Registration Details

Q: How do I register for the seminar?

A: Simply complete the online registration form on this page. Once submitted, you’ll receive a

confirmation email.

Q: Can I register on-site the day of the event?

A: Yes, on-site registration will be available from 8:00–8:30 AM in the Grand Ballroom foyer.

However, we recommend advance registration to secure your spot.

Q: Is there a registration deadline?

A: Online registration closes on November 13, 2025. After this date, you may register on-site.

Fees & Payments

Q: Is there a fee to attend the seminar?

A: The seminar itself is free of charge to participants.

Q: What does the optional $20 lunch/gift bag include?

A: For $20, participants will receive: Lunch, commemorative gift bag with small items, including a 2026 World Tournament sticker and flyers, and a keepsake bag with the OKCC logo. Must be purchased by November 7, 2025.

Q: How much is the banquet dinner, and how do I reserve a spot?

A: The banquet dinner on November 15 is $38 per person (plus tax and gratuity). Reservations can be made through the registration form. Seating is limited, so we recommend reserving early. Must be purchased by November 7, 2025.

Q: Who are the instructors?

A: The seminar will be led by four distinguished Okinawa masters:

✔️ Zenshun Shimabukuro – Shorin-ryu Seibukan, 7th Dan

✔️ Masanari Kikugawa – Okinawa Goju-ryu Dojo, Hanshi 10th Dan

✔️ Sadanao Uechi – Soke of Uechi-ryu, Futenma Shubukan Dojo, 7th Dan

✔️ Takahiko Gibo – Shobukan Headquarters, 8th Dan

Q: Do I need to bring my own training equipment?

A: Participants in kobudo sessions should bring their own bo or sai if available. A limited number of loaner weapons may be provided.

Q: What should I wear?

A: Karate gi is recommended for training sessions. Comfortable athletic attire is acceptable if you do not have a gi.

Q: Will there be separate sessions for different styles?

A: Yes, the seminar will be divided into multiple rooms, with each master leading sessions in their respective style.

Logistics

Q: What hotel accommodations are available?

A: A block of rooms is reserved at the Crowne Plaza Dulles Airport Hotel at a discounted rate of $119 per night + tax, breakfast included.

Q: Is transportation provided from the airport to the hotel?

A: Yes, the Crowne Plaza provides a complimentary 24-hour airport shuttle to and from Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).

Q: Which airport is closest to the venue?

A: Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) is only one mile away from the hotel.

Photos & Media

Q: Will photos or videos be taken during the seminar?

A: Yes, official photographers will capture highlights of the event.

Q: Can I take photos or videos during the sessions?

A: Photography for personal memories is welcome, but please do not interrupt or block others during sessions. Flash photography and video recording may be restricted during demonstrations.

Q: How can I access group photos after the event?

A: Group photos will be shared on the OKCC website and social media within two weeks after the seminar.

Other

Q: Can family or non-participants attend the opening ceremony or banquet?

A: Yes. Family and guests are welcome to attend the opening ceremony and may purchase tickets to join the banquet dinner.

Q: What's the menu for the Banquet / Dinner package?

A: Dinner: Parmesan Chicken with Capriccio sauce over fettuccine noodles, Italian Salad, Roasted Vegetable

Dessert: Tiramisu, Coffee, and  Iced Tea.

Q: Will there be merchandise or souvenirs available?

A: A small selection of commemorative items will be available at the event.
